Citing AI4M
If you use AI4M data in a report, publication or product, please say so and include the model version and the date you retrieved the data.

Get the model version and the date the data was last updated from Periods.
A methods paper is in preparation. When it is published, this page will give its reference, and that will be the preferred citation.
Describe it accurately
Section titled “Describe it accurately”Call the figures modelled estimates of malaria risk. Do not describe them as reported cases, observed incidence or surveillance data.
For a forecast month, say that it is a forecast and that it assumes typical rainfall.
Credit the underlying sources
Section titled “Credit the underlying sources”AI4M is built on other people’s data. Where you can, credit them too:
- Rainfall: CHIRPS, Climate Hazards Center, UC Santa Barbara.
- Malaria maps shown as context in the dashboard: Malaria Atlas Project.
- Population: WorldPop.
- Survey data: The DHS Program (Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey 2018; Nigeria Malaria Indicator Survey 2021).
- Boundaries: GADM, version 4.1.
Each has its own preferred citation and terms of use, published on its website.
